April is Environmental Month

Worldwide Passport Club “People of Action”

·                     Protecting the environment is fundamental to achieving a sustainable future. Rotary’s environmental initiatives enable clubs to undertake significant actions.  April serves as a reminder that even modest efforts advance overarching environmental goals. Through leadership in service, Rotary exemplifies how collaborative effort can contribute to a healthier planet.

·                     Members of Rotary’s Worldwide Passport Club, District 6990, dedicate their time, expertise, and service to environmental matters by actively participating in water well projects in Africa; supporting the Worldwide Interact Club’s seed planting project in Haiti; and organizing presentations on subjects such as pollination and climate control. Three club members contribute to the Rotary Action Group (RAG) focused on eradicating malaria in Africa.

·                     Projects including tree planting, community cleanups, and conservation education play a crucial role in protecting natural resources and fostering awareness. These activities engage communities and encourage lasting behavioral change. Rotary International further supports broader environmental initiatives by providing grants and funding projects that restore ecosystems and promote sustainable practices. Currently Worldwide Passport Club is submitting a matching grant proposal to Rotary District 6990 for support of a water well project in Malawi Africa.

·                     Rotary distinguishes itself through its capacity to mobilize individuals. Collective action around shared objectives amplifies impact. Environmental projects also offer practical opportunities for involvement, which are effective in attracting new members and strengthening community relationships. April serves as a reminder that even modest efforts advance overarching environmental goals.
